ARTIST ALLEY AT SOUTH HILL BUSINESS CAMPUS HOLIDAY ART SHOW

Working with wood, especially the way I do my woodwork, where there are no precise measurements, is incredibly calming and therapeutic.

When I decide to make a tray or a bowl, I start by roughly cutting out the shape, and then I let the wood, with all its unique quirks and so-called imperfections, determine the final form of the piece. This way of working puts me in a relaxed, almost meditative state. It's somewhat like when I unexpectedly compose a new song late at night, even when I had initially just planned to spend time with my instrument.

In this upcoming show, I'll be displaying some of my latest creations. Stop by to say hi.

Resilience

Beautiful, powerful, personal and musical - Resilience is a play with the urgency of now combined with timeless stories of healing.

Samite tells his life’s story in this multi-media one-man play.  He tells the story of his emergence from the nightmare of life under Amin and Milton Obote ("... when the birds stopped singing") to being a healer through the power of music.

Samite often includes a story or two in his    concerts, but now he has turned his entire presentation inside out and the result is raw and bracing.

Kumara CD Release Concert at Photografiska Museum NYC.

"This concert holds profound significance for me on multiple levels. It has been a considerable stretch of time since I last stepped on stage, and during this break, I've uncovered a valuable truth: happiness resides in the here and now, the connections we cherish and not  in the things we possess. I once harbored a sense of guilt for my diverse array of interests spanning various disciplines, but I've come to realize that they all originate from the same wellspring - love.

Whether it's music, photography, woodworking, tending to animals, or preparing meals for those dear to us, they all emanate from a place of profound affection. Collaborating with Sean and Shem in musical endeavors has elevated my appreciation for music to an entirely new dimension, and I consider myself extraordinarily fortunate to be at this juncture in my life. This concert is an experience I encourage you to share with your friends and their extended circles."
