Working with wood, especially the way I do my woodwork, where there are no precise measurements, is incredibly calming and therapeutic.
When I decide to make a tray or a bowl, I start by roughly cutting out the shape, and then I let the wood, with all its unique quirks and so-called imperfections, determine the final form of the piece. This way of working puts me in a relaxed, almost meditative state. It's somewhat like when I unexpectedly compose a new song late at night, even when I had initially just planned to spend time with my instrument.
In this upcoming show, I'll be displaying some of my latest creations. Stop by to say hi.
