Welcome message from Samite
September 2008
Dear Friends,
I have spent the summer in the studio working on my new CD and the children's
book that I told you about a few months ago. I will keep you posted.
I also had the opportunity to perform with Dominic and John - two young men
who are featured in War Dance, the Oscar-nominated film that chronicles
the lives of several boys and girls who have been affected by the civil war
northern Uganda. It was a powerful experience to visit with these two boys who
have gone through so much but are now finding happiness and success. I urge you
to rent this very inspiring film.
Another film that I have been a part of, and have written about before, is
Taking Root: the Vision of Wangari Maathai. I composed the soundtrack for
this inspiring documentary of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Winner. On October 6,
2008 the film will premiere in Washington D.C. See the website below for
details.
In a few weeks I am scheduled to leave for the Democratic Republic of the
Congo to visit and work with former child soldiers in conjunction with UNICEF
and Art of Humanity. I am looking forward to furthering the mission of
Musicians for World Harmony in this troubled corner of the world.
Mirembe,
Samite
